Volunteers and Prizes Needed

VOLUNTEERS JULY 30th
We are looking for members to volunteer on the day of the tournament. There are a variety of positions available from set-up to tear-down, to working at a hole on the course. This is an excellent opportunity to volunteer as a family and we are happy to pair you with a friend. Volunteers get a job orientation before the event and are welcome to join the golfers for the pre-golf meal.

PRIZE DONATIONS
We are short on prizes this year. A prize donation doesn’t have to be a “big” item or something complicated for members. We’ll even come and get it!  Email us at info@hemophiliamb.ca or call 204.775.8625. Here is a list of prize suggestions we would be very grateful to receive:

Gift Certificates – we can receipt a donated GC from a person because they bought it. Not directly from a business.

Restaurant, Canadian Tire (gather them up to buy a prize?), Local grocery stores, Luxe BBQ, Cabela’s, Services at a salon, Liquor Mart or wine store, activity like: Golf Dome, Escape Room, movie theater or Tinkertown, Gaming stores like Across the Board, Amuse-N-Games, Galaxy Comics, Game Knight

Re-gift something new that you won’t use– we can receipt for the retail value

A gift from a holiday or birthday – give it a good home!, Prize won at another event

Prize – prizes don’t always have to be something HUGE. We can often add a donated prize to a package.

Box of golf balls or golf accessories like towels etc.. Winnipeg Blue Bomber, Goldeyes or Winnipeg Jets items – any sport team item local or otherwise. Specialty shelf stable food like coffee, tea, or chocolate. Kitchen items like small appliances, dishes, or picnic supplies. Beach items, chairs, towels, or blanket, Outdoor games or tools. Electronics – bluetooth speakers, ear buds, or charging station. Schwag from the company you work for.

THANKS FOR THE HELP!

Getting Ready for Summer Vacation https://hemophiliamb.ca/getting-ready-for-summer-vacation/ Mon, 11 May 2026 14:10:11 +0000 https://hemophiliamb.ca/?p=17319

Summer Vacation – Are you ready?

No one wants to need emergency care during their holiday! Should you need to access care away from the Manitoba Bleeding Disorders Program (MBDP), there are things you can prepare in advance to minimize the experience.

  1. Have the phone numbers you will need in your phone! The phone numbers for the Manitoba Bleeding Disorders Program (MBDP) are located in Contact US. These include the on-call numbers to reach a pediatric or adult hematologist outside of regular office hours as well as the numbers for the nurses, physiotherapists and social worker.
  2. Ask the MBDP nurses for a travel letter.
  3. Do you have enough medication or supplies to manage a bleeding episode on vacation? Discuss your product levels with the MBDP nurses well in advance of your trip.
  4. Medical ID jewelry is always a good plan at home or away! The Chapter will provide funding up to $100 towards your choice of jewelry. Details in Member Services.
  5. Carry a TreatFirst or FactorFirst card with you! If you haven’t been to clinic in a while, call the MBDP nurses for an updated card.
  • The TreatFirst wallet card was developed as a resource for the individual with a rare factor deficiency or a platelet function disorder to carry in his/her wallet for presentation to emergency department staff when accessing emergency care. The card contains important patient information including details on diagnosis and treatment guidelines and contact names and phone numbers of the patient’s bleeding disorder treatment centre.
  • The FactorFirst wallet card is a resource for the individual with hemophilia or von Willebrand disease to carry in his/her wallet for presentation to emergency department staff when accessing emergency care. The card contains important patient information including details on diagnosis and treatment guidelines and contact names and phone numbers of the patient’s bleeding disorder treatment centre.

CHS-MC Strategic Plan 2026 – 2030 https://hemophiliamb.ca/chs-mc-strategic-plan-2026-2030/ Wed, 01 Apr 2026 18:44:18 +0000 https://hemophiliamb.ca/?p=17162

Working for the Bleeding Disorders Community in Manitoba

The CHS-MC 2025-2026 Board of Directors met in November of 2025 to work through a four-year strategic plan for the organization. Serving ALL Manitobans with inherited bleeding disorders was the focus of the day. Thank you to Kevin Freedman, The Governance Guru, for guiding us through the process. we will be presenting the strategic plan and taking questions at the April 18th Annual General Meeting at the RA Steen Community Centre. We would love to have you there: REGISTER

The current strategic plan is designed to guide CHS-MC leadership in reshaping the organization to meet the current needs of our members. The Board will examine the structure of the organization, staffing and leadership to ensure we have the resources and skills to meet the needs of the membership. The plan includes extensive consultations with all the bleeding disorders included in our community to identify the advocacy and service roles of CHS-MC. This work will inform the level of funding the organization requires to continue to meet the needs of the members and drive CHS-MC to seek new fundraising opportunities.

The 2026 – 2030 Strategic Plan reflects the dynamically changing day to day reality for our members as treatments improve, our commitment to identify and address underserved populations within our community and redefine the role of CHSMC. CHS-MC has a proud 60-year history of serving the community and will continue to do so in ways that are meaningful to Manitobans.

Volunteer Award Nominations 2025 https://hemophiliamb.ca/volunteer-award-nominations-2025/ Fri, 27 Feb 2026 15:48:13 +0000 https://hemophiliamb.ca/?p=17042

Nominate a Chapter Volunteer!

The membership is so lucky to have so many dedicated people who work to help the community. These are people who sit on the Board or Chapter committees. Sometimes it is a member who acts as a support to a group of friends in the community. We are lucky to have people who support the Chapter through our fundraisers and who support our advocacy efforts with the healthcare system.

Is there someone who has been important to you and your family? Please consider making an award nomination. The AWARD NOMINATION FORM describes the criteria for each Chapter award and shares who has won these awards in the past. Help us show our volunteers some love! The deadline for nominations is Tuesday, March 31st.

The location of the AGM is yet to be determined. Once we have identified a suitable location, we will announce it on social media and email those who have registered. Please register so we can have enough copies of materials for attendees and for ordering lunch. REGISTER
