Jacob Figler began as a member when he was born with Hemophilia. After growing up with the wonderful bleeding disorders community, he decided it was time to give back in some way. Years later he sits on the Executive Board and gets to be an integral part of the community that raised him.

Dragan has mild hemophilia (type A), is a husband and father of two girls. He wished to try and help people with bleeding disorders, especially the younger population, in having a better quality of life and inclusion in society. He has always had the desire to help people and was involved in JAZAS (Yugoslavian HIV society) and the Red Cross of Serbia in his youth. Being a member of CHS Manitoba Chapter has united his need to help other people and his deep understanding of problems and needs of people with bleeding disorders.

Darren was appointed to the Board in Jume 2023 as Treasurer. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in the UK before emigrating to Canada in 2011 where he gained his Canadian CA accreditation. For the past 10 years he has worked at Arne’s Welding who have actively supported CHS-MC.

Cory has served as Chapter President Twice. His second term ended in April of 2024. During his previous term he helped usher the Chapter into a new era of communication and engagement by growing a social media presence with Facebook, Twitter and now Instagram.

Milena believes strongly that the mothers in the bleeding disorders community need to connect with each other. As a result, she is the founder of the “Hemophilia Mother” Facebook group that supports women managing bleeding disorders and continuing to champion women and bleeding disorders here in Manitoba and internationally.

Tony joined the Chapter Board of Directors in 1981. He has served on every Chapter working committee. Tony has been a significant contributor to CHS National with his work on the Youth Committee and the HIV/HCV Task Force. Tony was instrumental in achieving indexation for those members receiving the Multi-Provincial/Territorial Assistance Program.

John has been an active member of the Chapter since 2005, serving many aspects of bleeding disorder’s needs. His current focus is aimed at aging with a bleeding disorder, as it brings new challenges to our membership. John’s commitment to the Chapter stems from seeing a need in the rare bleeding disorders community and aligning those with the CHS-MC Chapter. John is the Chapter’s representative on the newly formed CHS Chapter Collaboration Council.

Sandra joined CHS-MC in 2007 when her son was diagnosed with hemophilia. Sandra feels the Chapter has supported her family in many ways as they journeyed with a disorder, they knew little about. Sandra joined the board to give back a little of what has been given to them and to work with the Chapter to bring awareness of the needs of women and girls with bleeding disorders.
