Rural Members

Members who live 100 km away or more from Winnipeg are eligible to access Member Services specifically designed for them.

Rural members can apply for mileage reimbursement for trips into Winnipeg to see the Manitoba Bleeding Disorders Program. The Chapter office will calculate the mileage from your home to the Health Sciences Centre.

This service is open to members who are not eligible for other travel allowance programs; (e.g. members from northern Manitoba or residents of Ontario.) To learn if you are eligible to access these travel allowance programs, please ask the Manitoba Bleeding Disorders Social Worker

There are times that a rural member/family may be required to stay in Winnipeg beyond a day. This service is offered for a maximum of five days when the visit is for a bleeding disorders need including: clinic, diagnostic testing, day surgery or family member admission to HSC.

Members can choose to stay at a hotel of your choice. The Chapter can help you access accommodation at Lennox Bell Lodge or Lion’s Place. Members with a physicians referral can access Ronald McDonald House. Please ask the Manitoba Bleeding Disorders Social Worker

Member Services will reimburse up to a maximum of $75 per night. Original hotel receipts are required.
